Jessica Clayton | Fourth Grade

My name is Jessica Clayton and this will be my 14th year of teaching. I love teaching 4th grade! I have taught 2nd and 4th grade for a total of seven years at Columbia Elementary. I then worked as a CFA for one year, working with the BYU partnership where I helped in all grades and in seven different schools. I started foster care and went back to the classroom. I taught four years at Rose Creek Elementary and have now taught for one here at Antelope Canyon. Over the past 13 years, I attained my ESL endorsement and a Master’s in Education from Southern Utah University.

I have lived in Utah my entire life. I have three beautiful kids and two dogs. I love to be outdoors, go camping, fishing, hiking, and I have been teaching myself how to sew. I just finished a king-sized quilt last year which took me a good span of seven years to finish. I love spending time with my family and friends and I am always up to play a good board game.

Since I was a young girl, I have always wanted to teach. I would observe my teachers and try to emulate the good and amazing qualities my own teachers had. I teach because I love to grow and learn with the kids. I feel with my own kids that it takes a village. I love being a part of that village. I want to help my students become life-long learners so they can accomplish the things they want to in their own future lives.
