Hi! My name is Julie Simmons. I grew up in San Angelo, Texas. I graduated with a BS in Fashion Design and a minor in art at Texas Tech University. Shortly after my graduation, I moved to SLC to be with my family. I served an LDS mission in Curitiba, Brazil in 1985. I have been married for almost 32 years and have 4 grown children, two girls and two boys. My two sons, Stephen and Michael, are on the autism spectrum and have given us a lot of challenges, but they have also given us a lot of sweet moments. It has been a great blessing to have them in our family. My youngest daughter, Kathryn, works with a special needs class in the Alpine School District. She plans on going into Special Education because of her experience with her brothers. My oldest daughter, Sarah, is married and has given me the best two granddaughters ever! Emily is 6 and Chloe is 2 years old. In 2002 I decided to go back to school to pursue an education degree. I decided I wanted to be a teacher to make a difference in children’s lives! I love children and was so excited to be able to finally teach! I received a Master’s degree in Elementary Education in 2004 at the University of Phoenix. I have now taught 2nd grade for 16 years. My first 11 years of teaching were at Columbia Elementary, which is a Title One school. I then taught at Rose Creek Elementary for 4 years. I have now taught 1 year at Antelope Canyon and love it! I look forward to another amazing year in 2nd grade at Antelope Canyon! I am looking forward to working with your children again this year.
Together we will make a greater tomorrow.
