Julie Simmons | Second Grade

Hi! My name is Julie Simmons. I grew up in San Angelo, Texas. I graduated with a BS in Fashion Design and a minor in art at Texas Tech University. Shortly after my graduation, I moved to SLC to be with my family. I served an LDS mission in Curitiba, Brazil in 1985. I have been married for 30 years and have 4 grown children, two girls and two boys. My two sons, Stephen and Michael, are on the autism spectrum and have given us a lot of challenges, but they have also given us a lot of sweet moments. It has been a great blessing to have them in our family. My youngest daughter, Kathryn, works with a special needs class in the Alpine School District. She plans on going into Special Education because of her experience with her brothers. My oldest daughter, Sarah, is married and has given me the best 2 granddaughters ever!😊 Emily is almost 5 and Chloe is 9 months old. In 2002 I decided to go back to school to pursue an education degree. I decided I wanted to be a teacher to make a difference in children’s lives! I love children and was so excited to be able to finally teach! I received a Master’s degree in Elementary Education in 2004 at University of Phoenix. I have now taught 2nd grade for 15 years. My first 11 years of teaching was at Columbia Elementary, which is a Title One school. I moved to Rose Creek Elementary 4 years ago. I am so excited for the opportunity to move to a brand new school and to get to know the community there. I look forward to an amazing year in 2nd grade at Antelope Canyon!

I look forward to working with your child. Together we will make a greater tomorrow.
