Kindergarten Orientation


Welcome to Antelope Canyon Kindergarten! We look forward to working and learning with you and your child. Please take a moment to review the information provided on this page, which includes information about school registration, kindergarten readiness, and beginning-of-the-year assessments.

Please stop by the school office at your earliest convenience to pick up your Kindergarten Orientation packet.

Registration

You will receive a letter in August with instructions for logging into Skyward to complete your annual Registration for School. This is required at the beginning of every school year and is your opportunity to update personal and emergency contact information, give permission for your child to use the computers at school, and many other things. You will need to become familiar with Skyward as you will be using it throughout your child’s time in the Jordan School District. 

Please provide us with the following information to better meet your student’s needs

Kindergarten AM/PM assignments will be mailed to you at the end of May after the district transportation department makes determinations on busing. To request AM or PM Kindergarten, please contact the school office. 

If your child has a special circumstance that you would like us to be aware of as we are making class assignments for the new school year, we invite you to contact the school office. 

If your child has any medical conditions that we should be aware of, please contact our school nurse at Amanda.Hehr@jordandistrict.org. 

Beginning-of-Year
Assessments

Kindergarten begins and ends the school year with assessments as mandated by the state legislature. This year the beginning-of-the-year assessments will take place during the week of August 17-24. You will receive a letter in August with instructions for logging into Skyward to schedule your child’s 45-minute assessment during that week.

When you bring your child to this assessment please bring the following:

First Day of Kindergarten

Wednesday, August 25

Daily Schedule

Morning Kindergarten
9:00 – 11:40 (M-Th)
 9:00 – 11:00 (F)

Afternoon Kindergarten
12:55 – 3:35 (M-Th)
 11:55 – 1:55 (F)

Note: If one of your neighbors has a child that will be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2021, the child qualifies for kindergarten. If they have not already done so, please invite them to enroll their child at Antelope Canyon Elementary by logging on to http://planning.jordandistrict.org/enrollment/.
