Aloha! My name is Michelle Poteki, and this will be my 9th year teaching. For the past eight years, I taught 3rd grade and loved every second of it. This year I will be embarking on a new journey as an interventionist, helping K-6 students improve in reading. I am very excited to start this new position!
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in English as a Second Language from BYU-Hawaii. While working in the Jordan School District, I have also received extensive training in mathematics and reading instruction. I love my family, the ocean, being outdoors, and trying hard things! When I am not at school, you can find me spending time with my husband and our two children.
I teach because students are rock stars! Every day in my classroom, mistakes are encouraged, fun happens daily, and learning and growing occur hand in hand! I truly love what I do! I think it is critical that my students are reminded that they are loved and that they can do hard things. I want my students to be proud of who they are and find confidence in themselves, as well as in their academic abilities. I’m excited to get to know and work with a variety of students in every elementary grade this year as an interventionist helping students learn and succeed!
